Tango Synergy is a not-for-profit, Sydney-based incorporated association created by Tango dancers for Tango dancers.
Why an association? Tango Synergy was founded by a group of motivated dancers who wanted to provide free or very low priced milonga venues in Sydney. Achieving this required insurance, and the best way to get insured was to become incorporated. So, 14th February 2007 (Valentine's Day), Tango Synergy Incorporated came into being. The aim is to mix all schools together in a friendly, inviting environment; and to grow, expand and promote Argentine Tango. The association now has links to other areas in NSW and has expanded from merely providing free Wednesday night milongas in public spaces in Sydney's inner west, to also hosting monthly milongas at an indoor venue, developing links with teachers who provide discounts to members, providing a website and mailing list, and other services. The choice of name comes from the basis that "Synergy" means:
Joint working, co-operation Combined or correlated action of a group Increased effectiveness, achievement, etc., produced as a result of combined action or co-operation.
